Product Service Management
From Our Research
Technology affects the product/service management function because there are different products shown on the catalog and the website. At Nike they have someone who specifically run the website and catalog. That person uses internet and simulations to determine what products should be showcased on the website or catalog.
One specific application is product/service positioning strategy. Another application is using a website to improve customer service or use emails as well to help customers find a certain product that they are looking for.
Technology is used to help develop the product at the beginning and then to promote the product, Nike uses their website, emails, catalogs, and t.v. advertising to introduce the product to the customers.
Technology, in Nike, is used to show off the product to a small sample of people. Nike will use promotions and ads and will show them to a sample of people to see if it gets the audience excited about the product. Nike tests the website ads and email promotions in this step as well.
Technology protects the products that are in the packages. Nike protects the shoes by putting paper into the shoe to keep the form and then surrounds the shoe with another sheet of paper to protect the outside of the shoe. Labelling is any written, electronic, or graphic communication on the package.
From Our Interview
"FY13 was 69% – our best on record despite dropping to 57% in FY12 from previous rates above 60%. Our ability to maintain or improve these diversion rates in the future depends in part on external factors such as the efforts of our food service suppliers, and proposed regulatory changes regarding acceptable materials for composting and recycling."
